R-22 PHASE-OUT PROJECTED TIMELINE




January 1, 2010: 65% Reduction in R22 Production

Chemical manufacturers may produce R-22 freon to service existing equipment only.

HVACR manufacturers may continue to produce condensers and heat pumps using R22 from pre-existing R22 supplies, including R22 recovered and recycled from existing equipment.


January 1, 2015: 90% Reduction in R22 Production


January 1, 2020: R22 No Longer Produced

Only pre-existing supplies of R22, including refrigerant recovered and recycled, used to service existing R22 equipment.





OUR ADVICE FOR YOU:

If you have newer inside equipment and an older condenser or heat pump, consider purchasing a new replacement R22 condenser or heat pump and extend the life of your R22 system.

If your complete system is an older one, consider purchasing new equipment using the new R410A refrigerant.

R22 Freon prices will continue to rise as this refrigerant is phased out.
